Welcome to the Treasure Hunt Thrift Shop blog! We’re going to try to post a lot more frequently this summer and to start off we’d like to introduce you to our new interns Hannah and Sarena! They will be handling most aspects of social media so that we can reach you, our customers and supporters, better. They will be keeping our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and this blog up to date on all the new and exciting things Treasure Hunt will be doing this summer. Sarena and Hannah will also be making changes around the store to give you guys a better shopping experience. So make sure to follow us and stop by the store!
Meet the Interns: Hannah Faler
Who am I?:
I’m Hannah, a 21-year-old college girl from the (relatively) small town of Norman, Oklahoma. I attend college at the University of Oklahoma right in the smack-dab-middle of my hometown. I am majoring in Entrepreneurship with a minor in Marketing with the hopes of pursuing a career in the Fashion Business world.
Some of my favorite things to do:
- Dive into a really good book.
- Curl up in bed and watch back-to-back episodes of a series (my all-time favorite will always be One Tree Hill).
- Play with my puppy.
- Spend an entire day on the beach.
How did I end up here?
I spent weeks searching for the perfect internship for this summer. I knew I wanted to get out of Oklahoma and do something in the fashion industry. When I stumbled upon Treasure Hunt Thrift Shop I was immediately intrigued. An internship for fashion merchandising and marketing that also supports the New Life Beginnings Mother’s shelter? Count me in!
It is only my second week here in California and at Treasure Hunt Thrift Shop and I am already having the time of my life. I’m excited for the weeks to come and the people and places I will get to meet along the way.
Meet the Interns: Sarena Foster
Hey everyone! My name is Sarena and I’m currently a junior studying Fashion Marketing and Management at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. Originally, I’m from New York and I love to travel so I’m used to being far from home. I’m right on the border of NY and Canada so I’ve been there loads of times and I’ve also been to Spain, England and Nicaragua! Until this year, I’d never been to the west coast so it’s very exciting to have the whole summer to explore!
I also love fashion if you couldn’t tell from my major. Obviously shopping is fun, but there are so many other aspects of the fashion world! Fashion design isn’t really my thing, but I’ve learned that I’m pretty good at the technical aspect, which is garment construction and sewing. Textiles are also a really cool part of fashion because they allow you to show your craftier side with knitting, dyeing and different kinds of fabric manipulation. Then there is the retail math portion of fashion that really gets you thinking about what items are really worth and learning about customer’s wants and needs. I’m really thankful to have this opportunity at Treasure Hunt because it gives me the chance to put all the things I’ve learned about fashion to use and also learn new things like social media and visual merchandising!
I hope you all join Hannah and I this summer and learn something for yourself while you’re here!
